Enhance the modern electric motorcycle experience for a safer & more engaging ride
The electric motorcycle market is growing, and motorcycle-related road incidents are still on the rise. According to the NHTSA, the amount of motorcyclists killed in traffic in 2021 was at a record high.
With electric motorcycles being increasingly appealing to a broader and newer public, due to lower barriers to entry, an opportunity to rethink a safer next-gen cockpit experience is emerging.
Create a unique electric design language
Design a distraction-free HMI solution
Welcome to the new generation of electric motorcycles, aimed at thrill-seeking riders. The Vōlt Tracer brings a new level of integration, providing an uncluttered experience that enables the rider to stay fully focused on the road ahead.
The Vōlt Tracer was inspired by the sleek silhouette of street tracker and scrambler motorcycles, making it a perfect candidate for city navigation. Here, the split-monocoque body offers an alternative take on minimalist construction, putting all the internals out of view.
With this upright riding position, the cockpit HMI always remains a glance away.
Motorcycle HMIs suffer from a tendency towards excess, without understanding what riders really want to see
OEM clusters are crammed with information, lacking both readability and GPS navigation
Phones are distracting to operate while riding, have limited screen real estate & battery life
What do riders actually need to see while riding?
To find out what is truly essential to riders, and what they could part with, I asked 43 motorcyclists in a survey to rank motorcycle functions by importance — on and off the bike.
Designed for glanceability
The Vōlt Tracer features a modern integrated HMI, splitting the traditional cluster in two separate displays on each side of the bars, freeing up the rider’s field of view from any obstruction. The commands stay within reach and keep the much needed tactile physical inputs & dials for immediate feedback.
